Morzine

Morzine is located within the heart of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area, boasting over 650km of pistes. With an attractive old village at its core, lively nightlife and plenty of skiing, it’s a good value, easy to reach, year-round resort.  Morzine airport transfers take just 90 minutes from Geneva airport.

Once a small farming and slate mining Savoyarde village, Morzine has transformed into a large international mountain resort. Its easy transfer from Geneva Airport makes it perfect for short breaks, although the vast ski area provides more than enough skiing for a full week or more.

The town itself is large and spills over in to several satellite villages. There is a good variety of accommodation in Morzine, with catered chalets, self catered chalets,  hotels and plenty of restaurants and bars.

The Morzine and Les Gets ski area is covered by the Portes du Soleil ski pass or a smaller local pass.  It’s accessed from the Pleney and Crusaz lifts along the South West side of town, or from the Telecabine at Nyon, on its far southern edge. The runs are mostly short blues and reds but there are some challenges for experts.

On the opposite side of the valley, Morzine connects into the main Portes Du Soleil ski area linking Avoriaz and Champery to Morgins and Chatel.  This can be accessed via the Super Morzine lift which is in Morzine centre, or from one of the outlying hamlets at Ardent and Les Prodains, which have their own lifts.

There’s no shortage of runs to choose from in Morzine.  Boasting some beautiful, tree-lined runs which are pleasant on any day including making Morzine are a much nicer place to ski on a ‘white out’ day rather than some of the more bleak, exposed bowls in high altitude resorts. If snowsports aren’t your thing then don’t worry as Morzine is a genuine year-round resort with plenty of things to do besides skiing.
